What is EuroCom?
European Communications (EuroCom) started in 2006 at the 3rd Communications Research Information Technology (CRIT) consultation called by YWAM International Chairman, Lynn Green. EuroCom is an answer to the Global Leadership’s (GLT) desire to help heal the nervous system of YWAM.
The purpose of a communication team is to network YWAM and help bridge the gaps caused by our decentralized structure. While YWAM does value its structure YWAMer’s also value the individual right to communicate. The goal is not to control communications but to network the efforts and use the resources YWAM has to further the kingdom of God.
We as EuroCom work with European leadership to network, research and communicate across Europe. Our desire is to serve YWAM Europe and bridge the communication gap. Though we may not all be professionals, we are using the skills that we have been given in the areas of writing, photography, video, web design, networking, programming, IT and public relations.
EuroCom is made up of several layers. First of all the EuroCom networks, which are open to anybody involved in our interested in communication in Europe (doesn’t even necessarily have to be a YWAMer). I envision networks of photographers, video people, writers, web designers, graphic designers, IT people, etc. working together, encouraging each other, helping each other out when possible.
One of the strengths of this kind of thing is being able to connect various people together from the different networks to work on projects. Let’s say a base in Italy needs a website, so they contact us, and we send the word out to the various networks, and if there’s anybody who is interested and who would have the time, they could work in this project.
There are also the Regional Comm Teams (Northern, Western, Central and Eastern) which would function like the European comm team at a regional level. And then going on down to national and base comm teams.
There is another group of people, who function as a kind of “think tank“. We met together with them last October. This is pretty much open to anybody who is interested in networking together, forming workgroups and working through problems, perhaps even taking on projects which would benefit Europe or even YWAM globally as a whole.
Lastly, we are forming a Field Office Team, which will be a team located in one place, helping to keep the EuroCom business going throughout the year between the larger team meetings. We would work on projects and coordinate the regional and, where necessary, national comm teams, the networks, and carry on with the business between EuroCom meetings, which we hope to have two per year.
We are not a closed group. We are looking for those interested in helping develop this team. We need creative, passionate and “big picture” people.
